Copal, Protium Copal (Burseraceae), is a tree resin particularly an aromatic resin from the Copal Tree. Copal is used by cultures as incense during sweat lodge or sacred mushroom ceremonies, as a binder for pigments on murals, as a wood varnish for furniture and carriages, and making jewelry.
