The value of this plant is found in the woody roots. The roots of this plant are bitter to the taste and have a high concentration of nutrients. These roots are used to relieve pain, eliminate respiratory irritation, calm nerves, purify skin, detox the body, regulate blood sugar, and settle upset stomachs.
